Hepatologist

HEPATOLOGIST

Located just 30 minutes east of Toronto, in beautiful Durham Region, Lakeridge Health is actively recruiting two (2) dedicated and highly skilled hepatologists to become members of its growing healthcare team. These unique opportunities allow for the practice of specialized hepatology within a community setting, while simultaneously benefiting from the resources and collaborative environment of a well-established hospital network. Successful candidates will also have the opportunity to join a collegial and supportive gastroenterology team.  Like all members of our team, there is an expectation that the individual will open an out-patient practice in the community.

Successful candidates will be responsible for providing consultative services, focusing on outpatient care.  A key advantage of these roles is the absence of weekend and night time on-call obligations, focusing on an outpatient practice, promoting a healthy work-life balance. The position offers flexible opportunities for weekday inpatient consultations, allowing hepatologists to manage their workload effectively and respond to the needs of hospitalized patients as well. To fully support the clinical practice, some dedicated endoscopy time will be allocated, ensuring that hepatologists have the necessary resources to perform diagnostic and therapeutic procedures efficiently.

Applicants must be licensed or eligible for a license to practice in Ontario with accreditation in Adult Hepatology by the Royal College of Physicians and Surgeons of Canada or its equivalent.  A strong interest in teaching would be an asset as Lakeridge Health is associated with Queen’s University and the successful candidate is encouraged to pursue an academic appointment.

The successful candidate will promote and exemplify excellence in professional practice and conduct, commitment to team-based and inter-professional care and proven strong interpersonal skills.
