Radiation Oncologist – Locum Opportunity

The R.S. McLaughlin Durham Regional Cancer Centre (RSMDRCC) at Lakeridge Health is seeking a full-time (1.0 FTE) Locum Radiation Oncologist to join the existing team of eleven radiation oncologists.

The RSMDRCC is a well-integrated cancer centre that provides comprehensive multidisciplinary cancer management to a population of approximately 1.6 million people in the Central East. In addition to the well-established radiation and medical oncology programs, the centre also hosts the Central East Thoracic and Gynecologic Oncology surgical programs. The Radiation program provides IGRT, VMAT, IMRT, SBRT, SRS external-beam radiotherapy, in addition to a strong brachytherapy program that is currently being utilized to treat prostate, gynecologic and skin malignancies. The department currently operates seven linear accelerators, with one operating in Peterborough, Ontario.

There is an active regional outreach program to which radiation oncologists make a major contribution to patient care in the Peterborough, Cobourg, Lindsay, and Scarborough areas supporting regular clinics in all four communities. Willingness to travel to various regional sites across the Central East is required. 

The RSMDRCC also hosts an active Clinical Trials program with strong participation from the Radiation Oncology program. In keeping with Lakeridge Health’s commitment to medical education, the Oncology Program supports the education of radiation oncology residents, as well as medical and radiation therapy students.

Qualifications:

·         Eligibility for licensure to practice in Ontario.

·         FRCPC certification in Radiation Oncology at the time of appointment.

·         Knowledge and experience in treating different disease-sites is expected but experience in gynecologic and skin malignancies is preferred.

Position Details:

·         Start Date: Immediate. Term ending September 2026 with possibility of extension to June 2027
