#MyBestMoments - Logistics Team

In our #MyBestMoments campaign, staff, physicians, and volunteers from across our organization share the moments that have mattered most to them in their careers at Lakeridge Health.

In honour of National Health Care Supply Chain Week, members of the Logistics team at Lakeridge Health have shared some of their #BestMoments, both individually and as a team. Take a look below.

“My best moment is putting the patients first. I take pride in supplying the units with proper supplies to take care of patients. I always approach my job as if I have a family member admitted and I want to ensure they get the best care possible. Lakeridge Health is an awesome place to work. It’s not just a job, we are taking care of our community. I work with a fabulous team and a great boss, and we function as big family across many sites.” – George Backus, Oshawa Hospital.

“We are like one big family here in Stores. We help each other out when needed and celebrate special moments together. We have team members in Stores who have worked at Lakeridge Health from one year to 25 years. We do the day-to-day deliveries throughout the whole hospital to ensure things run smoothly with the supplies needed. As a whole, we are very fulfilled in our jobs at Lakeridge Health.” – Tina Suddard, Oshawa Hospital.

“I started at Lakeridge Health in January 2000. Over the years, I’ve worked at the Whitby, Oshawa, and Port Perry Hospitals. I have always provided coverage wherever needed, and I’ve loved seeing how unique each site is. My favourite part of my role is being able to offer help finding or providing Stores products to the units in need. I also love the variety of tasks in my role, as it is physically demanding mixed with the use of technology. One of my favourite moments was being able to offer “Grants Plants” during the COVID-19 pandemic. I grew a variety of plans and vegetables in my greenhouse and set up a plant sale to raise money for the Port Perry Hospital Foundation. I believe that brightened people’s days. For me, Lakeridge Health is a great place to work because of the caring, friendly, and knowledgeable staff.” – Grant Nicholson, Port Perry Hospital.

“I joined Lakeridge Health in August of 2020, right in the middle of the pandemic. I was hired as a Stores employee and have been here ever since. My favourite thing about my role is learning about all of the different products, how they’re used, and what unit uses them most. I don’t have just one favourite moment in particular, but I enjoy working and learning new things from others. To me, Lakeridge Health is a great place to work because it is very welcoming and everyone is willing to help you succeed.” – Jaime Suddard, Port Perry Hospital

“I joined Lakeridge Health in 2021 as a Materials Handler, which is still my role today. I enjoy working with my team and seeing all of the different areas of the hospital. As a part-time team member, I work in several areas, including medical, surgical, maternal newborn, and receiving, so I’ve been able to learn a lot about the various products required for daily operations. One of my favourite moments happened recently. Right at the end of my shift, I got a call from a unit for a few items they needed so I stayed back to make sure they got them. The next morning, that unit got a coffee for me because they didn’t expect me to stay late to help them out. It was a very nice gesture.” – Luke Brock, Ajax Pickering Hospital.
