Lakeridge Health is seeking an exceptional physician leader to serve as Deputy Chief and Assistant Medical Director, Department of Medicine.

Working in partnership with the Chief and Medical Director, the successful candidate will provide strategic and operational leadership across a diverse and expanding portfolio of clinical services, supporting excellence in patient care, physician engagement, quality improvement, innovation, education, and system transformation.
As a key member of the Department's leadership team, you will help set direction, navigate complexity, support physician leaders, and champion initiatives that improve care for the communities we serve across Durham Region.

About the Role
The Deputy Chief and Assistant Medical Director serves as a senior physician leader within the Department of Medicine and works collaboratively with medical, operational, and organizational leaders to advance departmental and program priorities.
Key areas of responsibility include:
- Supporting professional practice, quality of care, and physician engagement
- Advancing quality improvement, patient safety, and evidence-informed care
- Supporting physician recruitment, onboarding, workforce planning, and succession planning
- Providing leadership in performance management and professional practice matters
- Partnering with operational leaders to improve access, integration, and service delivery
- Supporting strategic planning, innovation, education, and research initiatives
- Promoting a respectful, inclusive, and collaborative culture aligned with Lakeridge Health values
The successful candidate will contribute to the ongoing growth and evolution of Medicine services across Lakeridge Health while helping to build a strong foundation for future clinical and physician leadership.
Qualifications
Applicants must:
- Be a member of the Lakeridge Health Credentialed Staff in good standing, or be eligible for appointment
- Demonstrate a commitment to excellence in patient care, quality improvement, and physician leadership
- Possess strong communication, collaboration, relationship-building, and conflict resolution skills
- Demonstrate an ability to lead change, influence across complex environments, and foster engagement
- Show a commitment to inclusion, diversity, equity, accessibility, anti-racism, health equity, and culturally responsive care
- Have an interest in developing future physician leaders and advancing organizational priorities
Previous leadership experience is considered an asset.
