Lakeridge Health is seeking a Staff Pathologist with expertise in Gastrointestinal Pathology to join our growing, high-performing Department of Laboratory Medicine. This is an outstanding opportunity to develop a rewarding subspecialty practice within a large, multi-site hospital system while contributing to medical education, quality improvement, innovation, and the continued growth of a community-based academic health system committed to delivering exceptional and equitable patient care.

Additional expertise in Diagnostic Oncology, including Hematopathology, is considered an asset. The successful candidate will possess excellent diagnostic skills, strong communication abilities, and a collaborative approach to patient care.

Our Department of Laboratory Medicine includes 16 pathologists supported by experienced pathology assistants, medical laboratory technologists, and allied health professionals who work collaboratively to provide timely, high-quality diagnostic services. We provide comprehensive diagnostic pathology services spanning a broad spectrum of benign and complex oncologic cases, including consultation services, in close collaboration with regional hospitals and the Cancer Program. Our department practices within a subspecialty-based model, fostering collaboration, professional growth, and diagnostic excellence.

We offer a flexible hybrid work model that combines on-site collaboration with remote digital sign-out. This approach supports professional collaboration while promoting work-life balance and allowing pathologists to work efficiently both on-site and remotely.

Lakeridge Health has received approval to implement a comprehensive Digital Pathology Program and is actively deploying this transformative initiative. The implementation of a fully digital workflow will support remote reporting, enhanced collaboration, and future innovations in diagnostic pathology.

Qualifications

Required

Applicants must:

  • Hold, or be eligible for, independent licensure with the College of Physicians and Surgeons of Ontario (CPSO)
  • Be certified, or eligible for certification, in Anatomical Pathology or General Pathology
  • Demonstrate fellowship training or significant expertise in Gastrointestinal Pathology
  • Be eligible for hospital privileges at Lakeridge Health
  • Demonstrate excellent diagnostic, communication, and interpersonal skills
  • Demonstrate a commitment to patient-centred, high-quality, and equitable care
  • Work effectively within a collaborative multidisciplinary team

Preferred Qualifications

Preference will be given to candidates with:

  • Additional subspecialty expertise in Diagnostic Oncology, including Hematopathology
  • Experience or interest in Digital Pathology and pathology informatics
  • Experience in medical education and learner supervision
  • Interest in quality improvement and program development
  • Leadership experience or demonstrated leadership potential
