Lakeridge Health is seeking an exceptional physician leader to serve as Deputy Chief and Assistant Medical Director, Anesthesia, at the Ajax – Pickering Hospital.
Reporting to and working in close partnership with the Chief and Medical Director, Anesthesia, the Deputy Chief and Assistant Medical Director will provide strategic, operational, and clinical leadership to support high-quality, patient-centred anesthesia services across the Ajax-Pickering site (including the Jerry Coughlan Centre for Health and Wellness) and contribute to department-wide priorities across Lakeridge Health.
This physician leader will play a critical role in advancing the goals of Lakeridge Health's 2026-2031 Strategic Plan, Care Closer to Home, helping shape the future of care delivery through a commitment to clinical excellence, health equity, population health, innovation, education, research, and continuous quality improvement. Working collaboratively with physicians, leaders, interprofessional teams, learners, and system partners, the successful candidate will help build an inclusive, high-performing culture that improves outcomes for the diverse communities we serve.
As a key member of the Ajax-Pickering medical leadership team, the Deputy Chief and Assistant Medical Director will:
- Provide local site leadership and operational oversight for anesthesia services.
- Support the achievement of departmental, organizational, and strategic priorities.
- Advance quality, patient safety, and clinical excellence initiatives.
- Champion physician engagement, wellness, and leadership development.
- Foster innovation and system transformation to improve patient and provider experiences.
- Promote equitable access to care and address health disparities through a health equity and population health lens.
- Support and grow academic activities, including education, scholarship, quality improvement, and research.
- Contribute to the development of a learning health system that integrates evidence, innovation, and continuous improvement into everyday practice.

Qualifications
- Member of the Lakeridge Health Credentialed Staff within the Department of Anesthesia, or eligible for appointment.
- Demonstrated commitment to clinical excellence and quality improvement.
- Leadership experience in healthcare, medical administration, education, quality, research, or system improvement initiatives is preferred.
- Excellent communication, collaboration, and relationship-building skills.
- Demonstrated commitment to equity, diversity, inclusion, and belonging in healthcare leadership and care delivery.
