Port Perry Hospital Foundation Community Report

Lakeridge Health Port Perry continues to benefit from the work of Port Perry Hospital Foundation (PPHF) and the remarkable generosity, creativity, and compassion of this community. This year, PPHF granted $1.1 million for medical equipment and compassionate supports at LHPP.

From innovative fundraising initiatives to essential investments in specialized patient care, our supporters demonstrate unwavering commitment to strengthening local healthcare.

STRONG in Scugog: Engaging New Supporters

Last summer, PPHF benefitted from an exciting new fundraising event, STRONG in Scugog, designed to engage new and younger audiences in philanthropy.

Founded by PPHF Board Member Jennifer Sawyer (North End Fitness), together with Brook-Lynn Luchka (Osteo Pathways) and Courtney Ayres (Kids Yoga), STRONG in Scugog introduced a first-of-its-kind fitness event for participants of all ages, challenging themselves through the obstacle course, while rising to the challenge of helping the hospital.  This inaugural event made a powerful first impression, raised $30,000 for Port Perry Hospital Foundation, and has the community buzzing about next year.

We extend our sincere thanks to all of the STRONG organizers, sponsors, and participants.

Specialized Care for Vulnerable Patients: Supporting a Unique Dental Program

This year, PPHF granted to all areas of LHPP, including an important but littleknown program - specialized dental care for patients with special needs who require treatment in the operating room due to physical, developmental, or cognitive challenges.

Through the generosity of the Rotary Club of Port Perry and another extraordinary hospital supporter, PPHF funded a stateoftheart mobile Dental Intraoral Xray System for the hospital’s operating suite. This advanced equipment is already transforming care.

Dentists Dr. Ryan Siciliano and Dr. Calvin Richardson shared why this technology is indispensable:

“This specialized Xray equipment is essential for the population we serve. We provide comprehensive dental care in the operating room for patients with special needs, many of whom cannot verbalize or identify areas of pain or infection. This technology gives us the immediate, highprecision diagnostic capability we need to ensure we can deliver the highest standard of care with the compassion and dignity every patient deserves.

This program is exceptionally rare, with Drs. Siciliano and Richardson serving patients from across and beyond Durham Region. Without it, many individuals would face multiyear waitlists for needed treatment, as very few programs in Ontario offer this level of specialized care.

Dr. Siciliano and Dr. Richardson also shared:

“As the dental team now leading this service, we are privileged to continue the foundational work of Dr. Jack Cottrell and to work alongside the hospital’s outstanding OR team. We simply could not achieve this level of care without PPHF’s support, and we are profoundly grateful. Thank you for investing in this program and in the health of our community’s most vulnerable.”
