Eating Disorders Program

Eating Disorders is a complex mental health illness that requires an interdisciplinary team approach to support clients and their families on the road to recovery. The Lakeridge Health Eating Disorders program is a hospital-based outpatient program located in the community. We specialize in the assessment and treatment of eating disorders for youth and adults. Our interdisciplinary treatment team consists of social workers, psychologists, dietitians and a nurse practitioner who work collaboratively in providing evidence-based care. We offer individual, family and group therapy, caregiver support and nutritional counselling, based on best practice approaches for the treatment of eating disorders.

All referrals receive a telephone screening followed by a comprehensive interdisciplinary assessment to better understand clients' current difficulties and treatment needs. Based on the assessment, treatment recommendations are discussed with our clients and families and an individualized treatment plan is developed. Treatment is focused on establishing and maintaining good physical and mental health.

Possible services include:

  • Physical health monitoring;
  • Nutrition education;
  • Individual therapy;
  • Family Based Therapy Model:
  • Family and caregivers support.
