Mental Health Support Unit

In partnership with the Durham Regional Police Service, the Mental Health Support Unit (MHSU) responds to police directed calls regarding individuals identified as experiencing emotional, psychological or psychiatric distress. 

The team provides a collaborative community-based mental health/crisis assessment and intervention and provides referrals to the most appropriate hospital or community services and supports. 

The MHSU liaises with the hospital and community resources, as needed.
