Lakeridge Gardens
Lakeridge Gardens is a state-of-the-art long-term care home located next to Lakeridge Health’s Ajax Pickering Hospital. Serving the Durham Region, the 320-bed home opened in the spring of 2022.
Below is a list of some of the features and services of this home:
- Evidence-informed infection prevention and control measures, a modern design, and care planning that prioritizes residents’ quality of life.
- The majority of resident rooms are private. The semi-private rooms have separate bedrooms with a shared bathroom.
- The home has some specially designed rooms to support bariatric resident needs.
- The second floor includes 64 secure beds and a specialized transitional behavioural unit with access to a secure rooftop terrace.
- A nine-station dialysis unit is housed on the first floor of the building. This unit will also be available to those in the community who require dialysis services. Majority of residents receive dialysis in their own room.
- To promote socialization, the home features a landscaped courtyard, four balconies per floor, a hair salon, great room, gift shop, and multiple gathering lounges.
- Residents, families and staff are multi-cultural, multi-lingual providing the basis for accessibility and inclusivity

Visitor Information
Visits by family, friends, and essential partners-in-care play an important role in enhancing the quality of life and emotional well-being of our residents.
Visitors are welcome to visit at any time mutually agreed upon by the resident. Visiting may be restricted to help prevent the spread of infection.
- Visitors will enter and exit through the main entrance.
- All visitors must complete the visitor log.
- Visitors should be mindful other residents need for privacy and rest during their visit.
There are a limited number of parking spots designated for visitors at the front of Lakeridge Gardens. Residents at Lakeridge Gardens receive a parking pass for visitors use.
Additional parking is available in the garage adjacent to Lakeridge Gardens and Ajax Pickering Hospital.

Resident Placement at Lakeridge Gardens
Ontario Health atHome coordinates long-term care placement within the Province of Ontario. The placement process includes a multi-part assessment, including an assessment by a Care Coordinator, to ensure there is an accurate record of medical history, and to help determine eligibility for long-term care.
