This program offers nursing students an exciting opportunity to apply classroom learning in a real hospital setting—Building hands-on experience, confidence and clinical skills in a supportive, supervised environment. Clinical externs gain insights into day-to-day responsibilities of nurses, including how they communicate and collaborate within the health care team.

The transitional role is designed to immerse you in the healthcare environment and prepare you or your future as a nursing profession. It’s also a valuable stepping stone toward joining our team as a graduate!

Internationally Educated Nurse Career Pathway Program

Lakeridge Health is supporting and working with internationally educated nurses (IENs) to find career pathways in our hospitals.

IENs are nurses who received their training outside of Canada and who have come to work in this country. These health-care professionals bring much knowledge, skills, and expertise; however, to work as a nurse in Ontario, IENs must successfully meet requirements established by the College of Nurses of Ontario (CNO), the province’s governing body for the nursing profession.
